European Parliament President Roberta Metsola emphasized that the completion of the approval process at the member state level for the loan package signed by Parliament in February marks a milestone for Europe’s security and Ukraine’s defense resilience.

Expressing satisfaction with the approval, Metsola said, “Two months after the European Parliament voted on and signed the €90 billion support loan for Ukraine, I am pleased that EU member states have now also approved it today.”

Highlighting the urgency of delivering the support on the ground, Metsola stated, “We must now urgently act to get these funds to where they are most needed. Ukraine needs this support on the ground right now.”

Underlining the importance of the decision, Metsola added, “Together with the 20th sanctions package, this decision is crucial for defending European security and achieving a just and lasting peace.”
