U.S. Department of Defense: Soldier serving in Operation Spartan Shield dies
Washington, March 9 (Hibya) - The U.S. Department of Defense announced that a National Guard soldier stationed in Kuwait to support Operation Spartan Shield died as a result of a non-combat incident.
According to a statement by the U.S. Department of Defense, a soldier serving in the New York National Guard died in his duty area in Kuwait.
The Department shared the following details regarding the incident:
"Major Sorffly Davius, 46, a member of the Headquarters Battalion, 42nd Infantry Division (Troy, New York), supporting Operation Spartan Shield, died on March 6, 2026, at Camp Kuwait."
Davius, who was born in Queens, New York (Cambria Heights), died as a result of a non-combat-related incident. While the cause of the incident has not yet been clarified, military authorities emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
