Merz: We must do more for Arctic security
Berlin, January 22 (Hibya) – German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Arctic security is a shared transatlantic interest, emphasizing that Europe and Germany are prepared for new global realities.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made statements on the strategic importance of the Arctic and Europe’s defense vision.
Describing Arctic security as a priority, Merz said: “As European NATO allies, we must do more to ensure the security of the Arctic. This is a shared transatlantic interest. Germany is doing this within the NATO framework. The people of Denmark and Greenland can rely on our solidarity.”
Speaking on global politics, Merz stated: “The world of great powers is the new reality. Europe and Germany have received this message. We must meet this challenge, and we will.”
Listing his government’s priorities, Merz added: “My government will pursue an ambitious reform agenda centered on security, competitiveness, and European unity.”
