Montenegro's President Jakov Milatovic visited the memorial house of Gavra Vukovic, one of Montenegro's prominent statesmen and diplomats and the first foreign minister of the Principality of Montenegro, as part of his visit to Berane.

Milatovic said Vukovic's political and diplomatic work marked an important period in which Montenegro's state structure was strengthened, its relations with European countries were developed and its international standing was established.

Milatovic said places such as memorial houses preserve not only the memory of an individual but also the continuity of Montenegro's state and diplomatic tradition, adding that this legacy should be passed on more effectively to new generations and that the understanding of responsible service to the state should be strengthened.
